Edward A. Scrivens, 85, of Sheffield Village, died November 26, 2021 after a lengthy illness. He was born March 9, 1936 in Elyria and was a 1954 graduate of Elyria High School. For 30 years, Ed had been employed at Lorain Products, now Emerson, retiring in 1998. He was a member of Elyria Lodge #787, raised in 1999, served 3 times as Master and served as Master of all 3 York Rite Bodies earning the degree of KYCH. He was a member of Stone City Chapter #325 O.E.S, Amherst and served as Worthy Patron numerous times. Ed was a life-long and oldest member of Pilgrim United Church of Christ, where he served as choir director for many years and 20 years as custodian. From 1972 until it was disbanded in the 1990’s, he and his wife sang with the American Theatre Chorus. They danced Western Square Dance with Tappan Squares in Oberlin and also sang with the Amherst Community Chorus from 1997 until 2020. Ed is survived by his wife of 60 years, Carol L. (nee Rickel); daughters, Cathy (Mike) Howard of Grafton, Carrie (John McKenna) Schofield of Elyria and Candi (Kevin) Scheifele of Randolph; grandchildren, Amy (Mike) Schneck, Lisa (Eddie) Gonzalez, Stephen (Ashton) Howard, Katelyn (Justin) Mason, Megan and Taylor Mehl, and Caleb and Jaden Scheifele and great-grandchildren, Aubrey and Emily Schneck, Greysen and Lyncoln Howard and Lyla Mason. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Ann Scrivens; brother, Henry Scrivens; and a nephew, Gerry Scrivens. Friends will be received Tuesday, November 30, 2021 from 4:00 pm to 6:30 pm followed by an Order of Eastern Star Service and a Masonic Service at Dicken Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 323 Middle Avenue, Elyria. A funeral service will be Wednesday, December 1, 2021 at 11:00 am in the funeral home with Pastor Troy Smith officiating. Burial will be in Brookdale Cemetery, Elyria. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of choice or Pilgrim United Church of Christ, 523 E.
