Edward Bahmer Obituary
Edward F. Bahmer, 93, of Grafton and formerly of Elyria, died November 29, 2022 at University Hospitals Elyria Medical Center. He was born November 27, 1929 in Defiance, OH where he was a 1947 graduate of Defiance High School. Ed received a Bachelor of Science Degree in 1951 from Ohio Northern University. From 1951-1953 he served as a staff sergeant in the United States Marine Corps. He began his career in 1953 as Director of Planning of the air brake division at Bendix Westinghouse, retiring in 1995 as Director of Engineering. Ed was a member of First Congregational United Church of Christ, Elyria and a seventy year member of the Masons. Ed was a life long learner, a former volunteer at Elyria Memorial Hospital, enjoyed trips to Lake James in Angola, Indiana, meeting friends at McDonalds and Sunday breakfast at Nancy’s restaurant in Grafton. Ed is survived by his daughter, Amy Gillmore (Jeff) Scarbrough; granddaughter, Amanda (Bruce) Rinkenberger; grandson, Jonathan Scarbrough; great grandchildren, Nathan and Ethan Rinkenberger; nieces, Ann (Jerry) Linebrink and Mary Ellen (Steve) Porter. He was preceded in death by his wife of forty two years, Gail Suppes Bahmer in 2005; sons, Edward Scott Bahmer and Frank Edward Bahmer; parents, Frank and Dorothy Bahmer and a nephew, David Hohenberger. Friends will be received Monday December 5, 2022 from 4:00 PM until the time of a 6:00 PM service at Dicken Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 323 Middle Avenue, Elyria. Reverend Patrick Nicolino will officiate. Elyria VFW # 1079 Honor Guard will present military honors. Inurnment will be in the columbarium at First Congregational UCC.
