Eileen Leuser Obituary
Eileen Claire Grace Crowley Leuser, born to John and Florence Crowley on August 27, 1927, entered into her eternal home on April 12, 2017. She was born in Cleveland, Ohio, before moving to Avon and Berlin Heights, Ohio. After graduating from college at The Ohio State University, Eileen resided in Elyria, Ohio, and later moved to Scottsdale, Arizona in 1997. Eileen’s passion for lifelong learning, her steadfast faith in God and her unconditional love of family inspired all who had the privilege of knowing her to lead a more meaningful life. Eileen met the love of her life, Joseph Leuser, while attending The Ohio State University. They married on December 6, 1947. During the next 69 blessed years of marriage, they together created a home full of faith, love and laughter that will always be remembered fondly by their nine gracious and fortunate children: Jean (Ed) Seber, Patricia Kaine, Mary Clare Mowry, Kathy (Jim) Mackin, Margaret Mary (Peggy) (Tim) Knapp, Joanne (Eric) Trabold, Joe (Marian) Leaser, Sharon (Will) Gates, and Mike (Jonna) Leaser. Throughout her life, Eileen was also blessed with 32 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren. Always striving to know her God and His role in the lives of everyone, Eileen left behind a legacy of the importance of faith, family, fitness and friends, as well as a passion for lifelong learning. Eileen started her education journey early, entering first grade after having just turned four, and never stopped pursuing knowledge. She graduated from The Ohio State University in 1948 with a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture and Food Technology, and earned her first Masters’ Degree in Education from Case Western Reserve University in 1961. Never content to sit still, she attained her second Masters’ Degree in Administration from Case Western Reserve University while still raising her family. Throughout her professional journey, Eileen (Mrs. Leuser to the countless students in her care) inspired many friends and colleagues. Eileen worked as a Principal at Edison and Jefferson Schools in Elyria, Ohio from 1980 to 1993. In 1991, at the age of 64 and nearing her retirement, she completed her fourth college degree, a Masters’ in Counseling from Cleveland State University, in an effort to seek first to understand rather than to be understood in her professional career and in life. Eileen was devout to her Catholic faith, and a faithful parishioner at St. Maria Goretti church in Scottsdale AZ. Together, Eileen and Joe shared a special devotion to the Virgin Mary and often prayed the holy rosary. While living in Elyria, she was active with Cursillo and the Christian Family Movement. The ever present matriarch, Eileen also had wonderful words of advice for her family, and would always bless them on the forehead saying “God Bless You and Take Care of You” each time they would leave. Now as she leaves us, we all wholeheartedly say, “RIGHT BACK TO YA!” Home to her God with a smile on her face, Eileen will be missed, but her spirit lives on one-hundred fold in the countless lives she has touched.
