Eileen Payton Obituary
Eileen Sue Payton (nee Mitchell), 88, of Oberlin, died Tuesday, February 3, 2026 at Kendal at Oberlin. She was born November 16, 1937 in Lima, Ohio and earned a bachelors degree from Otterbein College in 1959. She has resided in Oberlin for the past 21 years, moving from Beachwood. She had been plant technician at The Plant Company in Shaker Heights and retired as a preschool teacher from Solon Cooperative Preschool. She was a member of Christ Episcopal Church, Oberlin where she helped prepare community meals and was active in the Kendal community. She enjoyed crafts, teaching and spending time with family.
Eileen is survived by children, James Brian (Janet) Payton, Karl Douglas (Michelle) Payton, Jenifer Sue (Larry) Anderson, and John Robinson (Marsha) Payton; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Kenyon Payton; parents, Homer and Beatrice Mitchell and a brother, James H. Mitchell.
A celebration of life will be Saturday June 20, 2026 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm at Kendal at Oberlin, 600 Kendal Drive, Oberlin.
