Eleanor Pirigyi Obituary
Eleanor I. Ellie Pirigyi, 95, a longtime resident of Lorain, died February 28, 2015.She was born September 4, 1919 in Lorain and was a 1937 graduate of Lorain High School and a 1938 graduate of Oberlin School of Commerce. Miss Pirigyi was employed for 32 years as a claims examiner for the Social Security Administration in Cleveland and later in Lorain, from where she retired in 1974. Ellie was a member of The Hungarian Reformed United Church of Christ in Lorain and also attended Clague Road United Church of Christ in North Olmsted. For over 50 years, she was a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and had been a volunteer at Lakeview Plaza in Lorain and her retirement home at Westlake Village Retirement Center in Westlake. She was an avid reader and enjoyed needlework and baking for family and friends. Ellie is survived by a niece Rosalie R. (Norman) Lundberg of Elyria; nephew Dennis A. (Barbara) Abahazi of North Olmsted and cousins Bruce and Bonnie Smith, Greg and Geri Smith and Marge and Jim Ward.She was preceded in death by her parents Louis and Anna Pirigyi and brothers Julius Jaye Pirigyi in 1957 and Frank Abahazi in 1997.Friends will be received Thursday, March 5, 2015 from 10 A.M. until the time of an 11:30 A.M. service at Dicken Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 323 Middle Ave., Elyria. Reverend James Link will officiate. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery, Lorain.
