Eleanor H. Nagy, 85, of Elyria, died Thursday, February 9, 2012 at MetroHealth Medical Center, Cleveland as a result of injuries sustained in a car accident February 3, 2012.She was born August 16, 1926 in Cleveland and has been a resident of Elyria since 1927. She attended Roosevelt Elementary School and graduated from Elyria High School in 1945. Eleanor was employed at The Pfaudler Company in Elyria for 40 years, retiring in 1985 and then continued her career from 1986 to 1994 at Nord Medical Health Center She had been a member of Magyar United Church of Christ since 1927 and served as church secretary for 40 years. She was also a member of the Church Dorcas Guild and served as treasurer and secretary. She was church consistory secretary from 1978 to 1988 and was one of the noodle makers in the church. Eleanor was fluent in speaking, reading and writing in Hungarian which she translated for people. She was an avid reader of Civil War History and loved her pet cats. She devoted her life to helping her parents, family and the elderly.Eleanor is survived by sisters, Adele N. (Paul) Straub of Dowagiac, Michigan and Elizabeth Bakos-Mittler of North Ridgeville; nieces, Evelyn Arndt of Elyria, Nancy (Larry) Gray of Sun City, Arizona and Sheelagh Straub of Portage, Michigan; nephews, Thomas (Carole) Bakos of North Ridgeville and Kenneth Bakos of Elyria and numerous great nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her father, Barnabas Nagy in 1970 and her mother, Roza Nagy in 1979.Friends will be received Sunday, February 12, 2012 from 2 to 5 p.m. at Dicken Funeral Home, 323 Middle Ave. Elyria, A funeral service will be Monday 11:00 a.m., February 13, 2012 at the funeral home. Reverend Alana Kelley will officiate with burial in Brookdale Cemetery, Elyria. Memorial contributions may be made to Magyar United Church of Christ, 6119 West River Road South, Elyria, OH 44035.
