Elizabeth Belden Obituary
Elizabeth I. Belden (nee Grosjean), 86, died July 4, 2012 at Kendal at Oberlin, where she has been a resident for the past year. She was a former longtime resident of Clinton, Connecticut and after retiring, spent time in Brewster, Massachusetts and Venice, Florida.She was born April 22, 1926 in Wooster, Ohio and graduated from Howard High School in Howard, Ohio. Elizabeth received her bachelors degree from Ohio Wesleyan University and her masters in education and 6th year from the University of Connecticut.She taught at Haddam-Killingworth Regional High School in Adam, Connecticut. She was the 1980 home economics teacher of the year for the state of Connecticut, retiring in 1985.She was an active quilter, watercolor artist and bridge player.Elizabeth is survived by a daughter Jane E. Boomer of Elyria; son Robert W. Belden of Brewster, Massachusetts; grandchildren Megan and Shannon Boomer and James, Dawn and Jennifer Belden; sister Barbara Grosjean and brother Robert Grosjean, both of Mt. Vernon, Ohio.She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Richard W. Belden in 2004.A memorial service will be Saturday 2:00 p.m., July 21, 2012 at Kendal at Oberlin, 600 Kendal Dr., Oberlin, OH 44074.
