Elroy S. “Roy” FulmerElroy S. “Roy” Fulmer, 97, of Elyria, died, December 29, 2017. He was born March 10, 1920 in New Martinsville, West Virginia and has been a resident of Elyria since 1939. During WWII Roy served in The United States Army from 1941 until 1945. He participated in the European-African Middle Eastern Campaign including The Invasion of Italy and The Battle of Cassino, Italy. He was wounded in action against the enemy January 26, 1944 at Casino, Italy and received The Purple Heart. Roy was employed as an assembler at Smith & Jones in Elyria for forty one years retiring in 1982. He is a member of Elyria VFW # 1079 and Elyria Disabled Veterans # 49.Roy is survived by a daughter, Margaret T. “Peggy” Fulmer and a son, Timothy G. Fulmer both of Elyria and two granddaughters.He was preceded in death by his wife Thelma G. in 1997; daughter, Betty J. Lobdell, sisters, Margaret Fulmer and Ella Lee Nolan and a brother, William Fulmer.A private graveside service will be held in the spring at Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township. Arrangements are in the care of Dicken Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Elyria.
