Elvin D. "Al" Schuetz's Obituary
Elvin Schuetz Obituary
Elvin D. “Al” Schuetz, 97, of Elyria, died May 29, 2020. Born April 8, 1923 in Humboldt, NE, he was one of 13 children to Jacob and Mary (nee Herr) Schuetz. He grew up on a farm and in spite of many hardships along the way; it never got in the way of him being the most loving person. Al served with the US Navy and US Army during WWII. When he returned home, he married Beatrice whom he had met in person only 4 times, however, they did write regularly. Al and Beatrice were married for 67 years and raised 3 wonderful children together until her death in 2013. He had been a 60 year resident of Parma before moving to Elyria. He was employed as a car salesman and a supervisor for Tip Top Bakery. He was a member of St. Bridget of Kildare Church, Parma, enjoyed bowling and was an avid golfer. Al never lost his sense of humor; even towards the end he always had a snappy comeback. His family will miss all the stories he told about growing up on the farm; some funny, some sad, and some touching. Al leaves behind a legacy of loving children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren that will miss him greatly, but know he is now reunited with Beatrice. Al is survived by his daughters, Deanna (Andy) Kaizer of Elyria and Kathleen (Jack) Sekerak of Cleveland; son, David (Karen) Schuetz of Lancaster; 8 grandsons; 8 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife and parents, Al is preceded in death by his 12 siblings. A family burial for Al and Beatrice will take place in Holy Cross Cemetery, Brook Park at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Western Reserve, PO Box 72101, Cleveland, OH 44197.
