Ervin Canfield Obituary
Ervin Carroll Canfield, 85, of Elyria died June 11, 2017 at Symphony at Olmsted Falls surrounded by his family. He was born July 20, 1931 in Norton, West Virginia and was a graduate of Elkins High School. From 1952-1954 he served as a corporal with the United States Army stationed for eighteen months in Korea. Carroll was employed as a maintenance supervisor for twenty nine years at Harshaw Chemical Company from where he retired. He was a member of Elyria VFW # 1079, Elyria American Legion Post 12, Elyria Lodge # 787 and Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite Valley of Cleveland.Carroll is survived by his wife of thirty one years, Kathleen S. (nee: Walker); brother, Neil (Michele) Canfield; mother of his children, Charlotte Canfield; sons, Stephen (Rita), Stuart (Becky), Scott (Risa) and S. Craig (Michele) Canfield; daughters, Stephanie (Dean) White, Sonya (Ron) Smith, Susan (Ted) Younglas, Sandra (Mike Walter) Canfield and Shelley (Jay) Goldsmith; step-sons, Daniel (Dawn) McClintock and Richard (Becky) McClintock; twenty grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren; four step-grandchildren and six step-great grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his parents, Ervin M. and Ruby V. Canfield.A graveside service will be Monday, 11:00 AM June 19, 2017 at Brookdale Cemetery, Elyria. Reverend Robert Canfield, grandson will officiate. Elyria VFW # 1079 will present military honors and Elyria Lodge # 787 will conduct a Masonic service. Arrangements are in the care of Dicken Funeral Home & Cremation Service.
