Esther Loucille Leach (nee VanCooney), 80, of Elyria, died August 7, 2016 at Welcome Nursing Home in Oberlin.Born May 28, 1936 in Salisbury, OH, Esther owned and operated the former Fashions by Lady Esther in Elyria. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, North Ridgeville and Women of the Moose. Her interests included sewing, flowers, decorating, winters in Florida and spending time with her grandchildren.Esther is survived by a daughter Brenda J. Gallaher; son Ronald R. Hood, both of Elyria; grandchildren Melissa Rogers, Matthew Gallaher, Victoria Gallaher and Jamie Starr; several great grandchildren; sisters Nan Fowler of Cleveland and Jacqueline Adams of Amherst; brother Wilbur Lewis VanCooney, Jr. of Southern Ohio and nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her sister Eleanor Kauff; grandson Ronald R. Hood, Jr. and parents Wilbur L. and Ruth VanCooney.Friends will be received Wednesday, August 10, 2016 from 5:30 p.m. until the time of a 7:30 p.m. service at Dicken Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 323 Middle Ave., Elyria. Roy Canonizado of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints will preside.
