Esther P. Runkle Esther P. Runkle (nee Ignatz), 93, of Elyria, died July 25, 2019 in her home after a brief illness. She was born February 2, 1926 in Elyria. For eighteen years she was employed as a cafeteria worker at Westwood Junior High School and Elyria West High School from where she retired. Esther was a life member of Magyar United Church of Christ, now Community of Faith United Church of Christ and was a faithful maker of Csiga noodles and cabbage rolls. She was an avid reader, a Cleveland Indians fan, and enjoyed watching the hummingbirds and ducks that visited her backyard. Esther is survived by a daughter, Rhonda (Edward) Schulte; son, Michael (Ginger) Runkle, both of Elyria; grandchildren, Lisa (Chris) Stevens, Amanda Runkle, and Christopher (Jolynn) Runkle; great-grandchildren, Justin, Dustin, Kaitlyn, Rowan, and Judah. She is preceded in death by her husband of 35 years, Lloyd Jess Runkle in 1981; sons, Lloyd Jess Runkle, Jr. in 1948 and Randy M. Runkle in 1971; grandson, Matthew R. Schulte; parents, Mike and Esther Ignatz; and brothers, Louis, Nick, and William Ignatz. Friends will be received Monday, July 29, 2019 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Dicken Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 323 Middle Ave., Elyria. A funeral service will be Tuesday, July 30, 2019 at 11:00 am in the funeral home with Reverend Thomas French officiating. Burial will follow in Brookdale Cemetery, Elyria.
