Eugene Willoughby Obituary
Eugene F. “Papa” Willoughby, 77, of Elyria, died December 17, 2016 in his home. He was born August 26, 1939 in Elyria and was a 1957 graduate of Elyria Catholic High School. From 1957 to 1961 Gene served with the United States Air Force, stationed in Germany. He was formerly employed as a purchasing agent at LPS Technology in LaGrange. He was a member of Community United Methodist Church, Elyria, enjoyed following the sports activities of his grandchildren and was interested in all sports, including the Cleveland Browns and Cavs. Gene is survived by his wife of thirty eight years, Sharon M. (nee: Miller); children, Lori (Mike) Hoefs of Elyria, Lisa (Joe) Crouch of Cape Coral, FL, Jeffery Morgan of Avon Lake, Kelly Joppeck of Wellington, Julie (Drema) Willoughby-Neal of Kansas City, KA and Gina Mitchell of Dalton, GA; grandchildren, Nathan, Matthew, Rachel, Halley, Ashley, Emma, Haydn, Zoe, Kylie, Kinsy and Zach; six great grandchildren and a great-great granddaughter; sister, Sherry (Rich) Reinoehl and a brother, Thomas Willoughby. He was preceded in death by his parents, Francis and Agnes Willoughby. A memorial service will be Thursday, January 5, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Community United Methodist Church, 680 North Abbe Road, Elyria with Reverend Kevin Coleman officiating. Burial will be in Brookdale Cemetery, Elyria. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Community United Methodist Church or Mercy New Life Hospice, 3500 Kolbe Road, Lorain 44053.
