Eugene Harbert Obituary
Eugene R. Harbert, 93, of Elyria, passed away March 29, 2020 after a brief illness. He was born August 18, 1926 in Clarksburg, WV and was a graduate of Lorain High School. For thirty five years Eugene was employed as a floor inspector at General Motors Fisher Body in Elyria, retiring in 1985 and was a member of UAW Retirees Local # 780. He was a former member of Living Word Wesleyan Church in Elyria and enjoyed watching sports and reading. Eugene is survived by daughters, Shirley (Ray) Herron of Sand Fork, WV, Evie (Detlef) Sandanger of Gjerdsvika, Norway, and Paula (companion, Paul) Smith of Grafton; sons, David and Paul Harbert of Elyria and Jesse (Cindy) Harbert of Grafton; nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of forty eight years, Goldie Maxine Harbert in 2000; parents, Amos and Blanche Harbert; granddaughter, Camilla Sandanger and a sister, Mary Ellen Hayes. Friends will be received Thursday April 2, 2020 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at Dicken Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 323 Middle Avenue, Elyria. Due to the current coronavirus, social distancing will be practiced. A graveside service will be 2:00 pm Saturday April 4, 2020 in Little Kanawha Memorial Garden, Heaters, WV with Reverend Bryan Groves officiating.
