Evelyn Williams Obituary
Evelyn L. Williams (nee Oebker), 98, of Elyria, died October 4, 2022. She was born December 29, 1923 in Dover, OH (now Westlake), attended St. Paul Lutheran Church and School and was a 1941 graduate of Dover High School. Evelyn worked at Everts Tremaine & Flicker Insurance Cleveland until raising her children. She retired after 25 years at Elyria Savings and Trust Bank in 1985 as head teller. She was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church since 1959, Golden Buckeyes and helped serve meals at St. Andrews. She and her husband traveled throughout 49 states including Alaska and Hawaii and had also made trips to Europe and the Caribbean. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, reading and mall walking. Evelyn is survived by daughters, Bonnie (Bob) Mathias and Donna (Tom) Duplessie and a daughter in law, Jean Williams, all of Elyria; grandchildren, Brad Williams, Ashley (Mike) Miracle, Kristen Mathias (Aaron Wong), Geoff (Stephanie) Mathias and Matthew, Trey (Cheryl) and Brenton Duplessie; great-grandchildren, Brody Williams, Stella and Lucas Miracle, John Danko, Jr., Ailani and Colin Mathias and Tyson, Charlotte and Cora Duplessie. She was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Donald in 2017; son, Bob in 2005; great-granddaughter, Anastasia; parents, Henry and Lillian Oebker and a sister, Verna Cobb. Friends will be received Saturday, November 19, 2022 from 10:00 am until the time of an 11:00 am service at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 360 Princeton Avenue, Elyria. Reverend Tim Scholl will officiate. Private burial will be in Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, Rittman, Ohio. Memorial contributions may be made to Emmanuel Lutheran Church.
