Flavius Franklin “Hank” Hanna, 80, of Elyria, died January 22, 2017 at Mercy New Life Hospice in Lorain. He was born April 25, 1936 in Canvas, WV. He attended Canvas Elementary and Nicholas County High School in Nicholas County, WV, where he was a 1954 graduate. After serving in the U.S. Army as a paratrooper, Green Beret and Korean War veteran, he graduated from West Virginia Institute of Technology with a B.A. in Electrical Engineering. Hank was employed at Republic Steel and L.T.V. Steel in Elyria. After retiring, he worked for a brief time as a consultant. He loved the outdoors and was an avid animal lover. His hobbies included: fishing, making lures and knives, photography, working puzzles, reading, golfing and until recent years, gardening, especially dahlias. He was a proud member of the NRA. Mr. Hanna is survived by his significant other, Charlene Firestone, his fur-baby Sadie; sister Kay Eliseo of Nettie, WV; brother-in-law Charles Marshall of Charlotte Hall, MD. Nieces and nephews left to cherish his memory are Sue (Glen) Counts, Delmas (Joyce) Bennett, Steve (Jeannie) Bennett, all of Nettie, WV, Beverly (Rick) and Lana Zwolensky of Moundsville, WV, Dan Heston of Brandon, FL, John (Karen) Marshall of California, MD and Donald (Sara) Marshall of Boston, MA and special neighbors, Pat and Keith Meadows. He was preceded in death by his parents Arthur and Margaret “Maggie” Hanna (nee Keen); sisters Evelyn (Troy) Bennett, Margie (Dave) Heston and Helen Marshall; brother-in-law, Paul Eliseo and nephews, Eddie and David Bennett.
