Flora A. Flossie Hales (nee Miller), 89, of Elyria, died August 22, 2015 at University Hospitals, Cleveland, Ohio.She was born August 7, 1926 in Rocky River, OH and was a 1944 graduate of Chatham High School. Flossie worked in the family business, Hales Complete Food Market on Middle Avenue in Elyria from 1985 until the store closing April 30, 2005.She was a member of Abbe Rd. Baptist Church, Elyria, where she was active in the AWANA program, Pioneer Girls and was a former Sunday School Teacher. Her interests included sewing, crossword puzzles and spending time with family and friends.Flossie is survived by sons Timothy A. (Carol) Hales of Suwanee, GA, Richard J. (Diane) Hales of Elyria and Gary D. (Barbra) Hales of Grafton; twelve grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; sisters Nancy L. Yost and Bonnie Y. Hinckley; brother Russell F. and Delbert J. Miller.She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, John A. Hales in 2011; parents Thomas and Flora Miller; sisters Shirleymae, Carolann, Shirleyann, Della June Miller, Diane Thompson and LaVerne Gottron and a brother Thomas Miller.Friends will be received Sunday, August 30, 2015 from 2 to 5 p.m. at Dicken Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 323 Middle Ave., Elyria. Friends will also be received Monday, August 31, 2015 from 10 a.m. until the time of an 11:00 a.m. service at Abbe Rd. Baptist Church, 670 North Abbe Rd., Elyria. Pastor Cal Searles will officiate with Pastor Carmen Muoio and Pastor David Dunkin assisting. Burial will be in Brookdale Cemetery, Elyria. Memorial contributions may be made to Abbe Rd.
