Foster Cather Obituary
Foster D. Cather, 92, of Elyria, died August 16, 2015 in his home. He was born August 3, 1923 in Glenville, West Virginia. Foster lived in Glenville and Louisville, Ohio before moving to Elyria 1957. During WWII he served with the US Army Air Corps, 69th Bomber Squadron in the Asiatic-Pacific Theatre. He was formerly employed as a truck driver at Lehman Cartage in Elyria and then for eleven years as a millright at Elyria Foundry, retiring in 1985. Foster was an auto racing enthusiast and had been employed at Sandusky, Lorain, Cloverleaf Speedway and Norwalk Dragway. Foster was honored with a lifetime pass to Sandusky Speedway and Norwalk Dragway. He also enjoyed hunting and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Elyria. Foster is survived by sons, Rondall (Jane) Cather of Brunswick and Steven (Linda) Cather of Grafton; daughters, Sheila Nemeth of Elyria and Kathy (Denise) Cather of Cleveland; eight grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren and three brothers.He was preceded in death by his wife of seventy two years, Wilma C. in 2014; four sisters and five brothers.Friends will be received Wednesday August 19, 2015 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at Dicken Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 323 Middle Avenue, Elyria. Friends will also be received Thursday August 20, 2015 from 10:00 AM until the time of an 11:00 AM service at Calvary Baptist Church, 114 Hope Court, Elyria with Reverend Art Myers officiating. Burial will be in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Calvary Baptist Church.
