Frederick Lester Sheffield, 67, died September 10, 2016 while residing in Delmar, MD. He was born on September 12, 1948, in Elyria, the son of the late Lester and Arlene (nee Campbell) Sheffield.Fred was a 1966 graduate of Elyria High School. His career in the grocery industry heightened his desire for business and working with people. He was a hard-worker; lending a hand to those in need. He loved NASCAR and enjoyed spending time collecting racing memorabilia. He had a fondness for baking, especially brownies and Snickerdoodle cookies. Fred was a loving, caring father and treated his dogs as children, affectionately referring to them as "kids."Fred is survived by his wife, Jeanette A. Sheffield; sons, Tracy (Carolyn) Sheffield, Bryan Sheffield, Jaymie (Christi) Sheffield; daughters, Danyelle (Scott) Collins, Mellysa (Tom) Hawkins, Tennylle (Daniel) McGraw, and Dayna (Cole) Thornburg; stepsons, Kevin (Tina) Kelley and Sean (Angie) Kelley; 22 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; dogs: Gracie, Gumbo, and Holly; brothers Larry (Bobbie) Sheffield, Lee (Laurie) Sheffield; sisters, Linda (Jack) Drage, and LuAnne (Doug) Taylor. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by dogs, Gabby and Gordy and his former wife, Joanne (nee Horvath).The family will celebrate his life privately.
