Gary Behner Obituary
Gary D. Gramps/PaPaw Behner, 73, of Wellington and formerly of LaGrange died December 14, 2015 in his home. He was born August 22, 1942 in Elyria and was a 1961 graduate of Keystone High School. From 1964-1966 Gary served with The U.S. Army in Vietnam. He was employed for twenty five years as a diesel mechanic at E & L Transport in Lorain, retiring in 2003 and was also a volunteer firefighter for the Village of LaGrange. He enjoyed spending time with his family, meeting and drinking coffee with his friends at Citgo, attending clambakes and cruz-in classic car shows. He built and flew remote control planes and was a gun enthusiast. Other interests included camping, snowmobiling, and fishing. Together Gary and his wife of thirty four years, Jeanette (nee: Edgell), raised seven children. Also surviving are fourteen grandchildren; two great grandchildren; brothers, Brent Behner and Dennis (Helen) Behner and a sister, Sharon (Tom) Richards.He was preceded in death by his parents, Lyle and Florence Behner and a sister-in-law, Carol Behner.A military service will be Friday, December 18, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, Rittman, Ohio. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Veterans Who Care, 174 Jackson Street, Amherst, 44001 or Mercy New Life Hospice, 3500 Kolbe Road, Lorain, 44053.
