Gene Frye Obituary
Gene Frye, 85, of Elyria, died February 3, 2016 at University Hospitals, Cleveland, Ohio. He was born June 1, 1930 in Chicago, Illinois and was a graduate of Isaac E. Young High School in New Rochelle, New York. Gene served with the U.S. Marine Corps and then as a paratrooper in the U.S. Army 101st Airborne Division. He was employed for thirty years at Tuck Tape Corporation in operations and sales management and then as an executive recruiter for fifteen years at Paragon-Search, which he considered his second family. He was a member of Elyria Moose Club where he volunteered at the Saturday public breakfast. He was an avid reader, especially history, and enjoyed crossword puzzles, golf and watching political news TV stations. He was always ready with a joke, for family, friends and strangers. Gene is survived by his wife of fifty seven years, Gloria J.; daughter, Sharon Frye of Kingwood, Texas; sons, Kevin Frye of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania and Gordon (DeAnna) Frye of Elyria; grandchildren, Jessica (Rich), Matthew, Justin, Spencer and Steven; great grandchildren, Jordan, Jaiden and Sophia and several nephews and nieces.He was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Claire Frye; brother, Jacque and sister, Ruth.The family will receive friends at a gathering in the reception hall at St. John Lutheran Church, 1140 West River Road North, Elyria, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM Monday February 8, 2016. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Friendship Animal Protective League, 8303 Murray Ridge Road, Elyria or a charity of choice. Genes family acknowledges the care and kindness extended by University Hospitals EMH Regional Medical Center and University Hospitals, Cleveland. Arrangements are in the care of Dicken Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Elyria.
