George Humelsine Obituary
George A. Humelsine, 91, of Elyria, died November 16, 2021 at University Hospitals Elyria Medical Center from complications of a fall. He was born May 17, 1930 in Westmoreland City, PA and was a 1948 graduate of Norwin High School, North Huntington, PA. George served as a sergeant in the US Army from 1948-1951. From 1964-1983 he had been employed at Kasper Foundry and then retired as a foreman in the building and property maintenance department at Elyria Manufacturing Company. He was a member of the American Foundry Society and a 20 year treasurer of the Cleveland Chapter. George was also a member of the Fraternal Order of Police Association #98 and a life member of Westmoreland County Fireman's Association. He was a member of Elyria Lodge #787 F. & A.M., a 32 degree member of Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Valley of Cleveland, Lorain County Scottish Rite Society and was past patron of Stone City Chapter #325, O.E.S., Amherst. George is survived by his wife of more than 70 years, Reta M. (nee Richardson); daughter, Karin L. (Dan) Hamrick of South Amherst; sons, Bill M. Humelsine of West Jefferson, NC, Larry L. Humelsine of Elyria and Thomas A. Humelsine of Nashville, TN; 9 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Mary (nee Abram) Humelsine; brother, John Humelsine, Jr. and a sister, Elsie Tickerhoof. Friends will be received Saturday, December 4, 2021 from 1:00 pm until the time of a 3:00 pm memorial service at Dicken Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 323 Middle Avenue, Elyria. Pastor Ed Wishart will officiate. Out of respect for our guests, masks are required. Inurnment will in Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, Rittman, Ohio.
