Gerald J. LawrenceGerald J. Lawrence, 83, of Elyria, died, December 2, 2017. He was born March 20, 1934 in Elyria and was a 1953 graduate of Elyria High School. From 1956 until his discharge in 1958 Gerald served with the United States Navy. He was employed as a machinist for thirty years at Ridge Tool Company in Elyria retiring in 1996. He and his wife enjoyed traveling extensively in their RV. He was a member of Good Sam Club, Country Road Sams Chapter # 47 and was Wagon Master for thirteen years. He was also a member of National RV Great Lakers and Community of Faith United Church of Christ. Other interests included woodworking and electronics.Gerald is survived by his wife of sixty one years, Vivian M. (nee: Kleister); daughter, Peggy Thomas of Lancaster, Ohio; son, Stephen (Lisa) Lawrence of Elyria; grandchildren, Abby, Holly, Ryan, Elizabeth, Cassandra, Alyssa and William and great granddaughters, Rylie, Sadie and Kylie.He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Donna Lowery and a twin brother, James Lawrence. Friends will be received Wednesday December 6, 2017 from 3:00 to 6:00 PM at Dicken Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 323 Middle Avenue, Elyria. A funeral service will be Thursday December 7, 2017 at 11:00 AM in the funeral home. Reverend Kathryn Ketchum will officiate. Burial will be in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township.
