Gerald Kenneth SmithGerald Kenneth Smith, 82, of Elyria Township, died February 4, 2019 at Mercy New Life Hospice in Lorain. He was born January 22, 1937 in Elyria and was a 1955 graduate of Elyria High School. Gerry served in the Army National Guard and was formerly employed at Smith Equipment, Beal Equipment Service Company and Jim’s Electric from where he retired in 2002. He was formerly active in Little League West, Cardi Lanes Junior Bowling League and Elyria West Band Boosters. He enjoyed reading, working with stained glass and woodworking. Gerry is survived by his wife of fifty four and one half years, Edna Reagan Smith; son, Kenneth William (Julie) Smith and a grandson, Cameron Reagan Smith both of Norwalk. He was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Bessie Smith, infant sister, Esther and father and mother-in-law, William and Edna Reagan. The family expresses their thanks to the New Life Mercy Hospice staff for their outstanding care and comfort during this difficult time. Private burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Westlake, Ohio. Memorial contributions may be made to Mercy New Life Hospice, 3500 Kolbe Road, Lorain 44053 or Friendship APL, 8303 Murray Ridge Road, Elyria. Arrangements are in the care of Dicken Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Elyria.
