Gerald L. Jerry Perry, 70, of New Russia Township died July 17, 2014 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born March 25, 1944 in Lodi, Ohio. Jerry was a 1962 graduate of Marion L. Steel High School where he played football, basketball and track and later attended Lorain County Community College. He played football while serving in the United States Marine Corp and attained the rank of sergeant. He was a person of many talents. He worked in insurance sales, operated his own construction company, was assistant store manager at Lowes, worked for New Russia Township and Sliman Lumber Company. He was a volunteer for Oberlin Fire Department. He most recently worked as a truck driver for Bendix Corporation. He also spent time working with his Amish friends. Jerry was always willing to fix or build anything for his friends and shared his personality with everyone he met. Jerry enjoyed hunting, fishing with his grandchildren in his pond, riding his four wheeler through the woods and camping with his friends from County Roads Sams. For many years he was a member of the Main Street Antiques Family and especially enjoyed early morning antiquing. Jerry is survived by his wife of forty six years, Joyce (nee: Lauffer); daughter, Michele (Kirk) Peters of New Russia Township; son, Michael (Christy) Perry of Amherst; grandchildren, Sarah, Jared and Zachary Peters and Mitchell and Matthew Perry; brothers, Jim (Joanne) Perry of Hawkinsville, GA and Robert (Teri) Linhart of Flagstaff, AZ; sisters, Barbara Grueser of Green Township, OH and Vivian (Steve) Hazell of Oshkosh, WI; sister-in-law, Chris Perry of Leesburg, FL; nieces and nephews; aunt, Emilie Wells and cousins, Joan and George Klein.He was preceded in death by his beloved brother, Dan Perry.Friends will be received Tuesday July 22, 2014 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at Dicken Funeral Home 323 Middle Avenue,Elyria. A graveside service will be Wednesday July 23, 2014 at 10:30 AM in the pavilion of New Russia Township Cemetery 12528 Oberlin Road, Oberlin, OH. Reverend Robert J.
