Geraldine Ruth SchroederGeraldine Ruth Schroeder (nee Parker), 88, of Elyria, passed away July 21, 2018. She was born and raised in Wakeman, Ohio. Following her marriage to her husband, Glenn she lived the rest of her life in the Grafton/Elyria area. She was co-owner of Geri-Ann Variety Store in Grafton, a boutique in Oberlin and for many years was the bookkeeper for Schroeder Service Station, Elyria. Gerry had many interests and talents. She was a forty year member of Oberlin Golf Club where she aced # 13. She enjoyed bowling, fishing, playing cards and games and was an avid reader. Gerry was also very creative and artistic including knitting and wood carving, teaching classes in both. She enjoyed many family vacations in Canada, golf trips, visiting her grandson who was stationed in England and spending winters in Englewood, Fl, walking the beach collecting sharks teeth and shells.Gerry is survived by her daughter, Linda (Pat) Grady of Wakeman; son, David (Cindy) Schroeder of Elyria; grandchildren, Jim (Susen) Roth of Grafton, Josh (Gwen) Roth of Cincinnati, Andy (Alyson) Schroeder of Parker, Co and Jen Karbler of Valparaiso, IN; seven great grandchildren and her long time friend and companion, Jack Wells.She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty eight years, Glenn; parents, Forrest and Hazel Parker and brothers, George and Merle Parker.Friends will be received Friday July 27, 2018 from 4:00 PM until the time of a 7:00 PM service at Dicken Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 323 Middle Avenue, Elyria. Reverend Kathryn Ketchum will officiate. Private burial will be in Wakeman Township Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to LaPorte United Methodist Church, 2071 Grafton Road, Elyria 44035, where she was a long time member.
