Glen West Obituary
Glen H. West, 89, of Elyria, went home to the Lord May 26, 2015 at Mercy New Life Hospice, Lorain.He was born December 27, 1925 in Elyria and was a former resident of Huntington and Wellington then lived in Elyria for 41 years. He moved to Abbeville, Alabama, where he resided for 14 years, attended The University of Alabama, returning to Elyria in 2002. Glen was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, serving in the Asiatic Pacific Theater. He was a member of the Elyria Fire Department from 1952 until retiring as Captain in 1980 and from 1955 until 1983; he was also a licensed electrical contractor. Glen was a member of Elyria Lodge #787 F. & A.M. and Elyria V.F.W. 1079. He enjoyed spending time in his home workshop and bicycling.Glen is survived by his wife of 67 years, Lois M. (nee Mohrman); daughters Glena Nutter of Elyria and Julie Byrd of Amherst; a son Douglas West of Oahu, Hawaii; 4 grandsons and 6 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Jannie West and a brother Otis West.A burial service for the family will be at Brookdale Cemetery, Elyria.Arrangements are in the care of Dicken Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Elyria.
