Gregory Hopkins Obituary
Gregory J. Hopkins, 62, of Elyria, died August 13, 2022 surrounded by his family. He was born September 27, 1959 in Beckley, WV and was a 1978 graduate of Elyria High School. Greg spent his career as a bricklayer and took great pride in his craftsmanship, which included work on the Cleveland Browns Stadium and other well-known area landmarks. He was a supporter of Cleveland sports teams, especially the Browns. Greg was an avid fisherman and spent many years fishing competitively with his brother Tim. He loved his dog, Sammy and all the family pets throughout the years. Greg is survived by his parents, Billy and Ella Hopkins; children, Stacie (Matt) Sokolowski of Vermilion, Greg (Kimberly) Walter of Amherst, Joshua (Maggie) Hopkins of LaGrange and Jenna (Derrick) Heindel of Parma; and 9 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother, Timothy Hopkins in 2013. Friends will be received Friday, August 19, 2022 from 3:00 pm until the time of a 6:00 pm service at Dicken Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 323 Middle Avenue, Elyria. Reverend Justin May will officiate. Greg was not one for formalities so feel free to dress casually.
