Harley J. “John” Hornbeck, 78, of Elyria died July 3, 2017 at University Hospitals Elyria Medical Center. He was born June 21, 1939 in Buckhannon, West Virginia. John was a resident of Elyria most of his life and from 1958-1962 served with The United States Marine Corps. For thirty years John was employed at General Motors in Elyria, retiring from the Parma Metal Stamping Plant in 2003. He was a former member of Elyria VFW # 1079 and Elyria Moose # 778. He enjoyed bowling, travel and reading history and westerns.John is survived by his wife of fifty four years Helen E. (nee: Stone); sons, Robert (Shielah) Hornbeck of Canton, Michigan and James (Lori) Hornbeck of Elyria; grandchildren, Stephanie, Meghan, James and Lindsey and sisters, Alice (Richard) Osborne and Ruth (Jim) Markus both of Elyria. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Michael James Hornbeck and parents Harley and Myrtle Hornbeck.
