Harold Z. Hap Llewellyn, 96, of Elyria, died December 29, 2015.He was born November 29, 1919 in Summit Hill, PA and was a 1937 graduate of Summit Hill High School. In 1941, he received a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering from Lehigh University in Bethlehem, PA in. From 1944 to 1946, he served with the U.S. Navy during World War II. For forty years, Harold was employed at National Tube-U.S. Steel in Lorain, retiring in 1982 as superintendent of pipe mill maintenance. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Elyria, Elyria Lodge #787 F. & A.M., Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Valley of Cleveland; Senior Citizens of Amherst, Amherst Noonday Club and Silver Sneakers. He enjoyed socializing with family and friends, woodworking, golf, and was a former forty-three year member of Oberlin Golf Club.Harold is survived by daughters Sarah Southwold-Llewellyn (Martin) of The Netherlands and Christie Lee (Thomas) of Raleigh, NC; son Fred R. Llewellyn of Elyria; grandchildren Andrew Southwold and Annah and Sherman Lee; great grandson Henry Lee Gordon and dearest friend Jerry Sink. Also surviving are stepsons Robert Henighan (Wendy) of Medina, OH and Thomas Henighan (Gayle) of Beavercreek, OH.He was preceded in death by wives Jane Robertson Llewellyn of 48 years in 1990 and Ethel Henighan Llewellyn of 13 years in 2007; grandson Hugh Southwold in 2009 and sisters Marie Lord and Janet Keller.A memorial service will be Saturday, January 2, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of First United Methodist Church, 312 Third St., Elyria. Reverend Roger G. Talbott will officiate. Burial will be in Birmingham Cemetery, Florence Township. Memorial contributions may be made to Easter Seals Northern Ohio, 2173 North Ridge Rd. Suite G, Lorain, OH 44055, First United Methodist Church, or a charity of choice. Arrangements are in the care of Dicken Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Elyria.
