Harold Loye Riffle, 78, of Columbia Station, died peacefully March 8, 2016 at his home surrounded by family.He was born February 9, 1938 in Holly, WV and moved to Ohio in 1958. Harold was a U.S. Army veteran with the Army Corps of Engineers. He was employed with Cargill Salt Mines, Whiskey Island Cleveland and retired as an electrician in 2001. He was inducted into Metal/Nonmetal National Mine Rescue Hall of Fame in 2006 and was a member of Teamsters Local Union No. 436, Valley City, OH. He enjoyed hunting in West Virginia, gardening and walking.Harold is survived by his wife of 55 years, Della R. (nee Simmons); sons Duane (Loretta) Riffle of New Franklin, OH and Rick L. (Kimberly) Riffle of Spencer, OH; grandchildren, Alexis, Jenna, Samantha, Kyle and Connor Riffle; step grandchildren, Kayla (Thomas) Davis, Frances and Matthew Dennis; step great grandson James Davis; sisters Marie Hornick, Anna Riffle, Thelma Weimer and Shirley (Jim) Anderson and brother, Philip Riffle.He was preceded in death by his parents Clyde and Lena Riffle; stepmother Arlene Bennett Riffle and sisters Gatha Good and Rosalee Rambo.A graveside service will be Friday, March 11, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon, where Elyria V.F.W #1079 will conduct military honors. Friends may call at Chambers Funeral Home of N. Olmsted, 29150 Lorain Rd. @ Stearns Rd., Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Cancer Care, 275 Seventh Ave., NY, NY 10001.
