Harry Conn Obituary
Harry E. Conn, 97, of Elyria, died April 4, 2019. He was born January 11, 1922 in Noble County, Ohio. During his early years, he lived in Cumberland, Ohio and was a 1940 graduate of Cumberland High School participating in track and basketball. From 1942 to 1946 he served with the United States Coast Guard. Harry was employed at Fisher Body Division, General Motors in Elyria, retiring in 1987. He was a member of Saints Peter and Paul Lutheran Church, Lorain and served on the church council and as an elder and usher. He was affiliated with the Ohio Athletic Association officiating basketball games for over 20 years. He also played basketball for Lorain Glass Company, softball with Elyria United Polish Club and golf in the Elyria City League and Bendix Senior League. He was a member of Elyria American Legion Post 12 and Elyria United Polish Club. He and his wife enjoyed traveling and had visited Israel, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, and Hawaii, and also made annual trips throughout the USA. Harry is survived by his wife of 68 years, Lillian M. (nee Krupko); twin children, Marcia Lee Heffernan and Thomas Lee Conn; grandchildren, Michelle (Steve) Goris, Mark Heffernan, Jacqueline M. Conn, and Jennifer M. Conn; and great-grandchildren, Tyler and Corrine Goris and Owen Cohagan. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Isa (nee Beaschler) Conn; and brothers, George and James Conn. Friends will be received Sunday, April 7, 2019 from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm at Dicken Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 323 Middle Ave., Elyria. A funeral service will be Monday, April 8, 2019 at 10:00 am in Saints Peter and Paul Lutheran Church, 1500 Lincoln Blvd., Lorain with Reverend Edgar Anthony officiating. Burial will be in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst.Memorial contributions may be made to the general fund of Saints Peter and Paul Lutheran Church.
