Hazel J. Winchell (nee Taylor), 92, of Elyria, died Tuesday, June 25, 2013 at Wesleyan Village.She was born May 18, 1921 in Elyria, and was a 1939 graduate of Elyria High School and had been a resident of Elyria and North Ridgeville.She was formerly employed at Bendix Westinghouse in Elyria and had been self employed making custom slip covers.Since becoming a resident at Wesleyan Village, she had worked in the arts and crafts department making hand made items including clothing for the American Girl Dolls, sold in the Little Store at Wesleyan Village. Other interests included sewing, camping and gardening and she was a former member of Black River Trail Blazers and Elyria Parks and Recreation Department Active People. Hazel is survived by her twin sister Helen Stilgenbauer, a resident of Wesleyan Village; sons Bruce M. Winchell of Albuquerque, NM and Dennis R. Winchell of Clinton, Ohio; grandchildren Samantha Wade and Mark Winchell and three great grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Hugh M. Bud Winchell in 2000; grandson Andrew Winchell in 2010; sister Ruth Hunter; brother Robert Taylor and parents Robert and Anna Taylor.Friends will be received Friday, June 28, 2013 from 4 to 6 p.m. at Dicken Funeral Home, 323 Middle Ave., Elyria. A funeral service will be Saturday, June 29, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home with Reverend Dalton D. Love officiating. Entombment will be in Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon.
