Helen E. Shuman (nee: Huber), 67, of Sheffield Lake, Ohio died June 10, 2014 at her home. She was born November 28, 1946 in Elyria and was a 1964 graduate of Elyria High School. Helen had been a longtime resident of Elyria and was formerly employed by Elyria Schools as a crossing guard at Roosevelt Elementary School.Some of her interests were sewing, knitting, puzzles, reading, collecting horse and dragon statues and spending time with her grandchildren.Helen is survived by her husband of thirty one years, Alonzo W. Shuman; sons, Fred Stanislawski of Elyria and Mark Stanislawski of Sheffield Lake; daughters, Ida and Sylvia Stanislawski of Lorain; grandchildren, Matthew, Felicity, Tyler, Melissa, Emily, Noah, Nico and Anthony; sisters, Carla Markle, Karen Smith, Martha Silva, Cindy Partin, Tracy Huber and Jennifer Tschaekofske and brothers, Glen Huber and Pete, Paul and David Tschaekofske.She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Joyce Huber and a brother, Carl Huber. Friends will be received Thursday, June 12, 2014 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Dicken Funeral Home, 323, Middle Avenue, Elyria. A funeral service will be Friday June 13, 2014 at 11:00 AM at Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon, Ohio. Pastor Josh Budka, of Trinity Gospel Church, Vermilion will officiate.
