Helen Songer Obituary
Helen G. Songer (nee Mills), 92, of Elyria, died July 5, 2019. She was born February 1, 1927 in Ashland, Ohio and was a 1944 graduate of Elyria High School. For 33 years, she was employed at General Motors Fisher Body in Elyria. After retiring in 1980, Helen lived in Ellenton, FL for eleven years. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Elyria and Local UAW. Helen is survived by her children, Donald Songer of Newport Richey, FL, Rebecca (Kenneth) Uehlein, and Carol Mele, both of Elyria, Deborah (Robert) Humphrey of Clearwater, FL, and Christopher (Debbie) Songer of Elyria; ten grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Vernon H. Songer in 1989; and brothers, Frank and Robert Mills. Friends will be received Monday, July 8, 2019 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at Dicken Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 323 Middle Ave., Elyria. A funeral service will be Tuesday, July 9, 2019 at 11:00 am in the funeral home with Pastor Patrick Odle officiating. Burial will be in Brookdale Cemetery, Elyria.
