Henry Bannon Ferguson, 83, of Elyria, died peacefully in his sleep May 23, 2012.He was born September 18, 1928 in Gallipolis, Ohio to Eric and Elizabeth Ferguson. Hank graduated from Shadyside Academy in Pittsburgh and received a Bachelor degree in metallurgical engineering from M.I.T. He later returned on a Sloan Fellowship to M.I.T. and received his Masters degree in business administration. He was stationed with the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.He was employed at U.S. Steel Corporation, Lorain, retiring in 1983 as Division Superintendent of Pipe Mills. He continued to share his skills and experience through teaching, management consulting and as Coordinator of the Ohio Technologies Transfer Organization at Lorain County Community College.He was a member of First Congregational United Church of Christ in Elyria and served on the Board of Trustees as well as a youth forum advisor. Hank was also an active volunteer with the Cleveland Sight Center and was a member of Elyria Kiwanis Club. His other interests included skiing and golf.Hank is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Beverly A. (nee Terry) ; daughters Judy Ferguson of Columbus, Jackie (Marty) Mosley of Plano, Texas and Patty (Daryl Borsheim) Ferguson of Aurora, Colorado; grandchildren Ezekiel (Monica) Ferguson, Nathan Ferguson, Heather (Jimi) Ferguson, Brian (Julie) Mosley, Scott (Holley) Mosley, Jonathan (Jenni) Bortz; six great grandchildren and a sister Marian Hindmarsh.He was preceded in death by his son William A. Ferguson; parents and a sister, Frances Turner.A memorial service will be Sunday, May 27, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. in First Congregational United Church of Christ, 330 Second St., Elyria with Reverend Christina Kukuk officiating. Interment will be in Brookdale Cemetery, Elyria. The Ferguson family extends their appreciation to Kemper House Olmsted Falls and Holy Family Hospice for their care and thoughtfulness. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Congregational United Church of Christ Food Pantry or Holy Family Hospice, 6707 State Rd., Parma, OH 44134.
