Hershel Short Obituary
Hershel L. Short, 83, of Elyria, died October 20, 2021 at Mercy New Life Hospice, from complications after suffering a stroke. He was born September 3, 1938 in Spencer, WV and served with the Army National Guard. For 40 years, he had been employed at Ford Motor Company, Brook Park, Ohio, retiring in 1997 and was a member of UAW Local #1250. He was a member of Community United Methodist Church, Elyria and enjoyed golf, fishing and was happy spending time with his family. Hershel is survived by his wife of 29 years, Susan (nee Miller); sons, Richard and Michael Short; step-son, Michael Perkins; grandchildren, Kyle, Logan, Trevor, Mackenzie, Bryce, Zackery and Ethan; sister, Mary Lou Pursley and brother Allen Short. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harley and Orva Short and siblings, Carol Evans, Raymond and Donald Short. A graveside service will be Friday, October 29, 2021 at 10:00am at Brookdale Cemetery, Elyria. A service to celebrate Hershel’s life will follow at 11:00 am at Community United Methodist Church, 680 Abbe Road North, Elyria. Reverend Kevin Coleman will officiate.
