Howard H. Helmink, 91, of Avon Lake, died December 6, 2021 at Cleveland Clinic Avon Hospital. He was born August 21, 1930 in Cleveland and served with the US Navy. He attended Dyke Business College and had been employed as an accountant for RESS Realty and later retired from Sherwin Williams. Howard was a member of Christ Evangelical Lutheran church where he was a past treasurer and taught Sunday School. Him and his wife, Genevie, enjoyed traveling the world, including China, Russia, Australia, Egypt and Europe. He also earned the highest award in the Boy Scouts, the Silver Beaver. Howard is survived by his wife of 67 years, Genevie Lee (nee Davis); son, Charles Nicholas Helmink of Avon Lake; daughter, Cathy Lee (Doug) Schriver of Wellington; grandchildren, Nicole and Neil Helmink and great-grandchildren, Keegan and Connor. He was preceded in death by his parents, Nicholas and Elvira (nee Auping) Helmink and a brother, Clifford Helmink. A memorial service will be held in January 2022.
