Hubert W. MeredithHubert W. Meredith, 94, of Elyria, died, October 27, 2017 at Avon Oaks Nursing Home. He was born in Bolder, Colorado and upon moving to Elyria was a 1941 graduate of Elyria High School and was also a graduate of Baldwin Wallace College. During WWII Hubert served in The US Army Signal Corps stationed in England and France. He was employed at Harshaw Englehard Industries retiring in 1985. Hubie was a eighty year member of First Congregational United Church of Christ, Elyria and Elyria American Legion Post 12. He enjoyed traveling with his wife, refinishing antiques and playing bridge.Hubie is survived by daughters, Cynthia Martin of Elyria and Ellen (Martin) Rosenblum of Lyndhurst; son, Jack (Beth) Meredith of Elyria; seven grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his wife, Jeanne Meredith (nee: Dilgren) in 2014; parents, Dr. Lawrence and Lillian Meredith; brothers, Dr. Lawrence Jr., and Robert Meredith both in 1995 and his son-in-law, Jack A. Martin in 2017.Friends will be received Monday October 30, 2017 from 11:00 AM until the time of a 1:00 PM service at Dicken Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 323 Middle Avenue, Elyria. Reverend John R. Jackson, Chaplain of Mercy New Life Hospice will officiate. Burial will be in Brookdale Cemetery, Elyria. Memorial contributions may be made to Friendship APL, 8303 Murray Ridge Road, Elyria or Mercy New Life Hospice, 3500 Kolbe Road, Lorain 44053.
