Iola Mills (Crossland)Iola Mills (nee: Crossland), 94, of Vermilion died June 24, 2017. She was born June 20, 1923 in Coleman, Texas and had been a long time resident of Dallas and Irving, Texas. She was formerly employed at General Industries, Bendix Westinghouse, Hazel’s Restaurant and Max’s Restaurant all in Elyria and then for twenty eight years at Howard Johnson in Dallas from where she retired. She was a Texas Rangers and Cleveland Indians baseball fan and had attended one of the games in the 1945 World Series which the Indians won.Iola is survived by daughters, Jeannette M. (Gerald) Schaefer of Vermilion and Joy M. Bader of Columbus; granddaughters, Jackie (Jon) Cross and Jill (Tim) Treece and great grandchildren, Thomas and Abigail Cross and Elliot, Everett and Alexandra Treece.She was preceded in death by her husband Robert L. Mills in 1996; son, Robert L. Mills, Jr. in 2007; parents, Jim and Ettie Crossland, sisters, Lenore White, Dollie Eastwood and Mary VanZandt and brothers, Clive, Pete, Claude, Richard, Frank and Archie Crossland.A graveside service will be Tuesday, 1:00 PM, June 27, 2017 at Columbia Township Cemetery, West River Road, Columbia Township. Reverend Richard J. Leseganich, Pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church, Vermilion will officiate. Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, 3747 Liberty Avenue, Vermilion, 44089 or Mercy New Life Hospice, 3500 Kolbe Road, Lorain, 44053. Arrangements are in the care of Dicken Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Elyria.
