Jack B. Chapman, 84, of Lorain, died August 11, 2012 at New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph in Lorain.He was born May 30, 1928 in Lorain and was a graduate of the 1946-B class of Lorain High School and attended Bowling Green State University.While in high school and college, he was employed at U.S. Steel in Lorain. He then served with the U.S. Army, where he was stationed in Germany. After returning from the service, He resumed his career with U.S. Steel for a total of 35 years, retiring from Management in the BOP Shop in 1979. He enjoyed traveling and was a founding member of South Shore Wildlife. He was also a member of Amherst Eagles Club; Moose Lodge #552 and V.F.W. #451, both of Lorain; American Legion Post #0397 and AmVets Post #7576, both of Vermilion.Jack is survived by sons Jon V. Chapman of Amherst, Ohio and Richard Chapman of Grand Blank, MI; grandsons Matthew and Michael Chapman; great grandchildren Sophia and Seth; brother, James H. Chapman of Cincinnati, Ohio and his longtime companion, Clarabelle Dunn.He was preceded in death by his parents James and Mary Chapman and a brother Billy Chapman.
