Jackie Lee “Jack” Estep, Sr., 78, of Elyria, passed peacefully July 17, 2020 after a brief battle with cancer. He was born December 11, 1941 in Lizemores, WV. Jack served his country for 21 years in US Air Force, serving in Vietnam, retiring in 1981 as a Master Sergeant. After his time in the service, Jack was employed until 2005 as a corrections officer for the Grafton Correctional Institute. He also owned and operated Mid-Ohio Distribution. Jack was a member of American Legion and VFW. His interests included time with family and friends, and visiting area flea markets. He purchased many items which he donated to veterans in need. Jack is survived by his wife of 58 years, Jennette A. (nee Townsend), son Jackie Lee Estep, Jr. of Wellington; daughters, Denise Hallauer of Elyria and Michelle Estep of Lorain; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; brother Bob Estep of KY; sister, Pat Rose of Cleveland; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, Andrew in 2003; brothers, Jim Estep and Ben Estep and a sister Peggy Lillard. Friends will be received Monday, July 27, 2020 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Dicken Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 323 Middle Ave., Elyria. Burial will be Tuesday, July 28, 2020 in Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, Rittman. Due to COVID-19 precautions, face coverings are required.
