James A. Burgett II, 69, of Elyria, passed away September 20, 2020. He was born April 29, 1951 in Elyria and attended Elyria High School. From 1969-1972 James served with the US Army stationed in Europe where he was a heavy equipment operator and welder. After his service in the Army, he attended Lorain County JVS. He then moved to Connecticut where he raised his family and was employed as a nuclear welder at General Dynamics Electric Boat Division in Groton. He enjoyed spending time outdoors, debating politics and was a long-time sports fan especially of the Cleveland Browns and Indians. James will be missed by his family and friends. He is survived by a son, James A. Burgett III of Chicago, IL; stepson, Joseph A. Loring of New Carlisle, OH; sisters, Carol (Tony) Gallardo of Elyria and Holly Hatgidek of Lake City, FL; brothers, Chris, Gregory, Neil (Gretta) and Scot, all of Elyria; 6 grandchildren; several step-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Shirley and James A. Burgett, Sr.; brother, Jeff Burgett; and sisters, Bonnie Campollo and Teris Marie Burgett. A memorial to celebrate Jim’s life will be held at a later date. In memory of James, blood donations or memorial contributions may be made to Vitalant-LifeShare, 710 Leona Street, Elyria.
