James Carstensen Obituary
James A. Carstensen, 62, of Elyria, died February 27, 2014 at University Hospitals Elyria Medical Center. He was born December 8, 1951 in Elyria and was a 1970 Elyria High School graduate. Jim was employed at Ford Motor Company Lorain Assembly Plant for 17 years, retiring in 1990. He was a talented craftsman and gifted landscaper who was proud of his home, yard and garden and enjoyed sharing his skills to help friends. He cherished the company of his family especially his grandchildren at cookouts and playing card games. Jim is survived by a daughter, Lisa (Jason) Cooper of Amherst; son, Joseph (Morgun) Carstensen of North Ridgeville; grandchildren, Ethan, Jaydan and Mikayla Cooper and Sadie Carstensen; mother, Eileen Craven of Elyria; brothers, Larry of San Antonio, TX and David of Reno, NV; sisters, Lynda Davis of Elyria and Janice Farber of Reno, NV and former wife and best friends, Kathy and Russell Weiss.He was preceded in death by his father, Calvin E. Carstensen..Friends will be received Tuesday March 4, 2014 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Dicken Funeral Home, 323 Middle Ave., Elyria. A service will be Wednesday March 5, 2014 at noon in the funeral home with Pastor Randy Stewart officiating. Burial will be in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township. Memorial contributions may be made to the family through the funeral home.
