James A. ProchazkaJames A. Prochazka, 83, of Elyria Township, died, September 19, 2017. He was born October 22, 1933 in Elyria and was a 1951 graduate of Elyria High School. During The Korean War Jim served in communications with the US Army stationed in Japan. For forty three years he was employed at Alltel as a technician servicing the business community, retiring in 1995. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Elyria. His interests included motorcycle riding, archery and model trains and airplanes.Jim is survived by his wife of sixty three years, Jacquelyn H. (nee: Buswell); children, Judith Plato of Marblehead, Jeanie Prochazka of Elyria, Jeffery (Jennifer) Prochazka of Port Orange, Florida and Joseph Prochazka of Elyria; step-granddaughter, Kimberley Plato; grandchildren, James Mayfield, Melody Prochazka and Lillian Butler; great grandson, Brandon Mayfield Vanhoose; sister, Mary Shaffstall of LaGrange and numerous nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents, Anthony and Edith Prochazka; son-in-law, Charles Plato and grandsons, Christian Prochazka and Nicholas Mayfield.A memorial service will be noon, Saturday September 23, 2017 at St. John Lutheran Church, 1140 West River Road, Elyria. Reverend William Mugnolo will officiate. Interment will be in Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, Rittman, Ohio. Memorial contributions may be made to the church. Arrangements are in the care of Dicken Funeral & Cremation Service, Elyria.
