James Waldron Obituary
James B. Waldron, 94, of Elyria, died January 21, 2017 at Mercy New Life Hospice, Lorain. He was born July 6, 1922 in Elyria and was a 1941 graduate of Elyria High School. During World War II, Jim served in the United States Army Air Corps as a turret gunner on a B-24. After his discharge from the service, he moved to Lorain. For 42 years, he was employed as a crane operator at U.S. Steel in Lorain, retiring in 1983. Throughout his life, he remained physically fit, was an avid golfer and bowler and enjoyed traveling with his wife. He was a member of Elyria V.F.W. #1079 and American Legion. Jim is survived by stepsons, Benny (Kathy) Greer of Elyria, his caregiver; Charles (Jan) Greer of Bull Head City, AZ; stepdaughter, Lynn Lowrey of Edmund, OK; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and a great-great grandson. Also surviving is a sister, Betty Jackson of Sandusky; nephew, John (Lisa) Jackson of North Ridgeville; nieces Gail Jackson and Linda (Michael) Wrenn of Sandusky; 1 great niece and 1 great nephew. He was preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Jacqueline (nee Jones) in 2006; mother, Sadie Waldron (nee Gibson) and a sister Norma Giedlinski. Friends will be received Wednesday, January 25, 2017 from 10a.m. until the time of a noon service at Dicken Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 323 Middle Ave. Elyria. Reverend Dennis Schmidt will officiate. Burial will be in Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon, where Elyria V.F.W #1079 will present military honors.
