James T. Jim Gotro, 87, of Elyria, died Friday, March 2, 2012 at Life Care Center of Elyria. He was born April 25, 1924 in Elyria, was a 1942 graduate of Elyria High School, and had lived 23 years in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. He was employed in the engineering office at the former Western Automatic, Elyria as a designer. He also worked as a designer with Brush Beryllium in Lorain and Lear Romec in Elyria. While in Florida, he worked with the Broward County Administrator as a county planner, retiring in 1986.He enjoyed reading, theatre and traveling.Jim is survived by his companion Alex Vargo of Elyria; ten nieces and nephews and many great nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by brothers Thomas N. Gotro, Jr. in 1992 and Douglas E. Gotro in 2002; a sister Jacqueline J. Lewis in 2004 and parents Thomas N. and Velma (nee Hammond).Burial was at Brookdale Cemetery in Elyria.
