My condolences to Jim's family and friends. I imagine the service of remembrance on Saturday was beautiful. He was an inimitable member of the First Church family, and not just for that seersucker or pinstriped suit I remember so well. He will be missed.
To both Carol and Ellen and your families, Cathie and I would like to offer our deepest sympathies for the loss of your father. Both he and your mom were wonderful friends to our family and I have honestly thought much of Jim in the last number of years. Our memories are vvid of our times with your family. Im so sorry for your loss. Your father lived a long life and as I remember was a pillar of the community and a respected businessman. My own mother, Ruby Decker, just died October 17, also age 95. They may be gone, but never forgotten.
Jim was a close friend of our family as my dad, Kenneth Brown, was an employee of The J. R. Dall Ford Dealership dating back to the 1930s and then through the 1950s and 60s. I shared a noon meal with Jim in August 2016 while visiting in Elyria. Jim supported several of my activities when I was in Elyria High School during the 1950s. We always enjoyed mutual attractions to classic cars and the auto industry in general. Back in the late 1930s my mom and dad took Jim with them on several Canadian fishing trips. I will miss Jim as I am sure many others feel the same way. His quick wit and that great smile that he always seemed to have. Richard Brown
