James ScottJames Scott, 87, of Elyria, went home to be with the Lord March 9, 2018 after a brief illness. He was born November 17, 1930 in Greenwood, SC and had been a resident of Elyria since 1956.He was a US Army veteran, serving in Korea during the Korean War. James was employed by Elyria Foundry and Elyria Memorial Hospital, retiring in 1992. For over sixty years he was a member of Second Baptist Church and also a member of AmVets Post 32. He enjoyed fishing, billiards, gardening and walking with his friends at the mall.James is survived by his wife of twenty three years, Josie; daughters, Cynthia Scott of Dallas, TX and Jennifer Scott of Elyria; sons, Larry Scott of Cleveland and Michael (Diana) Scott of Elyria; step-son, Joseph Harris III of Southfield, MI; sister, Doris Handy of Moncks Corner, SC; eleven grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie Thomas and Geneva Scott, brothers, Walter Thomas and James Robinson, son, Ronny Scott; step-daughter, Kyla Ross and his precious dog, Sasha.Friends will be received Friday March 16, 2018 from 10:00 AM until the time of an 11:00 AM service at Second Baptist Church, 427 16th Street, Elyria. Reverend Dr. Carl P. Small will officiate. Burial will be in Brookdale Cemetery where Elyria VFW # 1079 Honor Guard will present military honors.
