James L. Tobe TobiasJames L. Tobe Tobias, 82, of Elyria, died June 19, 2015.He was born July 8, 1932 in Shamokin, PA and has been a resident of Elyria since 1950. Tobe served as a Sergeant in the United States Army during the Korean War and was awarded the Purple Heart, Korean Defense Service Medal, Korean Presidential Unit Citation, Korean Service Medal and Combat Infantry Badge. He was a long time truck driver and member of the Teamsters retiring in 1995. Tobe was a lifetime member of both Elyria VFW #1079 and Korean War Veterans Association and was an avid golfer. Tobe is survived by his wife, Mary A.; son, James W. (Kelly) Tobias; granddaughters, Madeline and Victoria Tobias; sister, Hilda M. Conry and brothers, Leon W. (Ann) Tobias and Lee D. (Pauline) Tobias all of Elyria.He was preceded in death by his parents, Lewis and Mattie Tobias; sisters, Thelma L. Derr and Charlotte Tobias and a brother, Malcom S. Tobias.Friends will be received Monday, June 22, 2015 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Dicken Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 323 Middle Avenue, Elyria. Elyria VFW # 1079 will present military honors at 7:00 PM in the funeral home followed by a funeral service with Reverend David Little, Associate Pastor of First Baptist Church, Elyria officiating. Burial will be Tuesday June 23, 2015 at 2:30 PM in St. Pauls Lutheran Cemetery, Gowen City, PA. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of choice.
